Natural System of Units

1. Natural Units

For the natural system, we consider,

$\hbar$ = c = 1

Quantity

Formula

Unit

mass

M$c^{2}$/$ c^{2}$

1 GeV

length

$\hbar$c/M$c^{2}$

1GeV$^{-1}$ = 0.1975 fm

                time

$\hbar$c/M$c^{3}$

1GeV$^{-1}$ = 6.59 x 10^{-25} s

2. Heaviside-Lorentz Units

For the Heaviside-Lorentz system we consider,

$\varepsilon_0=\ \mu_0\ =\ \hbar\ =\ c\ =1$

Fine structure constant:

$\alpha=\frac{e^2}{4\pi}=\frac{1}{137.06}$

3. Relations between Energy Units

  • 1 MeV = 10$^{6}$eV
  • 1 GeV = 10$^{3}$MeV
  • 1 TeV = 10$^{3}$GeV
