WHAT IS OVERTHINKING ?
In simple words, Overthinking is thinking too much.
When you think too much, instead of acting and doing things, you are overthinking. When you analyze, comment and repeat the same thoughts over and again, instead of acting, you are overthinking.
This habit prevents you from taking action. It consumes your energy, disables your ability to make decisions, and puts you on a loop of thinking and thinking over and again.
This is a kind of thinking that wastes your time and energy and prevents you from acting, doing new things and making progress in your life.
It’s like tying yourself to a rope that is connected to a pole and going in circles again and again. In this situation there is more likelihood for worry, anxiety and lack of inner peace. On the other hand, when you don’t overthink, you become more efficient, more peaceful and happier.
HOW TO STOP OVERTHINKING?
These are some effective ways to stop overthinking:
Before you can begin to talk or deal with your habit of overthinking, you need to be aware of it when it’s happening. Watch yourself when you overthink and see how time and energy consuming it is, how you are behaving passively, instead of actively.
Start paying closer attention to your thought processes, and notice when you’re thinking in an unproductive way. Note down what you’re thinking, and the form it takes. That moment of awareness is the beginning of the change you want to make.
2. Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness involves focusing on the present moment and is a skill that needs to be practiced. Practice on engaging your senses in the moment. Focus on touch, taste, sight, sound and smell. Engaging the senses leaves less time for worry also, practicing yoga can be helpful. This will help you to live in the present moment and stop overthinking.

4. Be Active
Realize that thinking once, or a just a few times is enough. It leads you nowhere thinking over and again the same thoughts. You need to make a decision and act.
5. Realize that you can’t predict the future.
You have to realize that no one can predict the future. If you spend the present moment worrying about the future, you are wasting your time and energy now. Spending time on the future is simply not productive. Spend that time instead on things that give you happiness.
6. Get good quality sleep.
This is one of the most commonly neglected factors when it comes to keeping a positive mindset. If you’re drinking too much coffee, isolating yourself indoors, and only sleeping for an hour a night, it is absolutely natural that you’ll feel terrible. Because when you haven’t slept enough then you become more vulnerable. Sleep is when we recharge at the deepest level. This is when we regenerate and rest. Do whatever you need to prioritize high quality sleep.
7. Live In the Present Moment
Learning how to stop overthinking and worrying also involves relaxing ways of better living in the current moment. Firstly, don’t allow yourself to be held convict by imprecise fears about what might happen to you
Try to notice every movement of your muscles and everything around you. Your brain will slow in response. You can also try reporting the present moment in your head to pull yourself back to the present.
The above tips would help you, but if you want to completely overcome this habit, you will need to go one step further. You will need to learn to focus and calm down your mind, so that you can easily prevent it from revolving around the same thoughts over and again.
Practicing concentration exercises enables you to control your thoughts and focus your mind on what you want to think, not on restless thinking and ruminating.
